DIY Cracked Egg Card with Hidden Message – Free Template & Video Tutorial

Looking for a unique and creative Easter or Spring-themed card? My Cracked Egg Card with a Hidden Message is the perfect project! This handmade card is super easy to create, making it perfect for crafters of all levels. Whether you love vintage-style designs like mine or prefer bright and modern colors, this project can be customized to your style.

What You’ll Need

To make this card, you’ll need:
✔️ My free template (download here)
✔️ Cardstock or mixed media paper
✔️ Decorative papers (choose your favorite style)
✔️ Scissors (I also used scissors with a decorative edge)
✔️ Adhesives (glue, double-sided tape)
✔️ Embellishments (flowers, lace, butterflies, etc.)
✔️ A hidden message (a handwritten note, stamped sentiment, or printed quote)

How to Make the Cracked Egg Card

1️⃣ Print & Cut the Template

  • Download the free template and print it on your chosen cardstock.
  • Cut out the egg shape and the zigzag crack using scissors or a craft knife.

2️⃣ Assemble the Base

  • Decorate both halves of the egg using patterned papers and inks.
  • Use muted tones and aged paper effects if you love a vintage look!

3️⃣ Create the Hidden Message

  • Write or print a special note and place it inside the cracked egg before assembling.
  • You can add a surprise element, like a tiny tag, stamped quote, or even a mini photo!

4️⃣ Decorate & Embellish

  • Add flowers, butterflies, lace, pearls, or anything that fits your theme.
  • Don’t forget to distress the edges for that extra vintage charm!

5️⃣ Final Touches

  • Tie a ribbon or twine at the top for a finishing touch.
  • Your card is now ready to be gifted or displayed!
