Handmade Vintage Style Explosion Box – Paper Crafting Tutorial
Hello and welcome!
I’m back with a new video tutorial. This time I share many tips for creating vintage-style exploding/explosion box cards.
What is an exploding box?
It is a type of greeting card - 3D box. At first look, it seems to be an ordinary box with a lid, but when you take the lid off the sides cascade outward revealing beautiful decoration in the centre of it. The sides are not joined or glued together.
In the centre of my box, I paced another little box that can be used for a small gift such as jewellery, money, gift card etc.

Each side is decorated with attention to detail, when choosing elements I tried to focus on colors and the style of the scrapbooking papers I’m using. When choosing embellishments I went through my stash looking for metal pieces, small flowers, sisal, chipboard elements and anything that would add texture to my project!

Many embellishments are fussy cut images from Lemoncraft ‘Dear Diary Forget Me Not’ paper collection.

I used tags and labels from the collection as a part of each composition on the side panels of the box and on the lid.

I’m sharing the process of creating compositions and finishing the whole project. Watch my video and let me know what you think about it.
I hope to inspire you to create a similar box! Grab your scissors and let’s make something!
Best wishes! Emilia
