A Soft & Elegant Floral Birthday Card with Papertrey Ink | How to use foil

Hello crafty friends!

I’m excited to share a sweet floral birthday card featuring some beautiful Papertrey Ink products. This design combines soft pastel colours, layered die-cut flowers, delicate foliage, and a touch of vintage-inspired sheet music for a card that would be perfect for birthdays, celebrations, or simply letting someone know you’re thinking of them.

Watch the Tutorial

In today’s tutorial, I’ll walk you through the entire process step-by-step, including flower assembly, layering techniques, and all the finishing details that bring this card to life.

Card Design Inspiration

For this project, I wanted to create a card with a romantic and airy feel. The combination of dusty pink, soft grey, and sage green creates a calming colour palette, while the oversized flowers become the focal point of the design.

Layers of foliage, delicate splatters, and fine thread details add texture and interest without overwhelming the card.

Scrible in the background

To add interest in the background, I’ve used a black fine-tip marker and scribbled near the edge.

Building the Background

Rather than using a busy patterned paper, I chose a soft pink background with subtle white splatters. Behind the floral cluster, I layered a decorative panel featuring a vintage sheet music pattern – for this I used a new plate from Papertrey Ink and white foil.

Finishing Touches

The sentiment, „Make a Wish!”, is placed beside the flowers so it remains visible without competing with the focal point.

To complete the design, I added:

  • White splatter accents
  • Small black gems
  • Additional foliage layers
  • Foam adhesive for dimension

I hope this project inspires you to pull out your favourite Papertrey Ink florals and create something beautiful. The soft colour palette and dimensional flowers make this design easy to adapt for many different occasions.

Thank you so much for stopping by, and happy crafting!

Emilia
