Journal Style Card Inspired by Altenew Packaging

Hello crafty friends!

Today I’m excited to share a new card tutorial featuring beautiful Altenew products. Sometimes inspiration comes from the most unexpected places, and this project is a perfect example of that!

While looking at the packaging of one of the Altenew products I was using, I fell in love with the soft botanical arrangement and the relaxed journal-inspired design. Instead of creating a traditional floral card, I challenged myself to make a composition using only foliage, berries, textures and layers—and I absolutely love how it turned out.

The card combines soft shades of blue, fresh greens and warm kraft tones for a calming colour palette. The layered die-cut leaves and berries become the focal point, while the background adds interest with delicate ink blending, stamping and paint splatters. The arched journal panel gives the card the feeling of a page torn from an artist’s notebook, making it a little different from my usual floral designs.

One of my favourite things about journal-style cards is that they don’t require large flowers to create impact. By combining different leaf shapes, small botanical elements and lots of dimension, you can achieve a rich layered look that’s still light and elegant.

This design is perfect if you’re looking for a different style of card or simply want to make the most of your botanical dies beyond floral arrangements. It’s also a wonderful reminder that inspiration can be found everywhere—even on product packaging!

I hope this project encourages you to look at your supplies with fresh eyes and experiment with journal-inspired layouts. Sometimes stepping outside your usual style leads to your favourite creations.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope you enjoy the tutorial, and if you recreate this design, I’d love to see your version. Happy crafting!
