Layered Frame Card with AALL & Create + Video Tutorial

Today I’m sharing a brand new card together with a step-by-step video tutorial. This project is all about layers, soft colouring, and dimension – featuring beautiful AALL & Create products, a gorgeous cutting die frame, hand-coloured ephemera, and my handmade flowers 🌸

The Idea Behind the Card
For this card, I wanted to create something delicate and dimensional, with a soft romantic feel. The base of the composition is built using a cutting die frame with inserts, which creates ready-made sections that work perfectly as structured backgrounds. Instead of treating the frame as just a border, I used each insert as a mini canvas. Subtle mixed-media touches and soft colour blending give every section its own personality while still keeping the design cohesive.
Background & Frame
The die-cut frame is the foundation of the entire project. I love how the pierced detailing adds texture without overwhelming the design.
Each insert panel was lightly decorated to create soft, layered backgrounds for the composition. This makes the card visually interesting while still allowing the focal elements to shine.
AALL & Create Ephemera – Coloured with Markers
The focal elements are beautiful ephemera from AALL & Create. I coloured them with alcohol markers.
The flowers were coloured in vibrant pink tones to create contrast against the soft neutral base. I added subtle white splatters for a slightly artistic, mixed-media look.
Marker colouring allows full control over intensity and blending, which makes the ephemera feel more personal and unique.
Handmade Flowers for Extra Dimension
To add even more depth and texture, I included my handmade fabric flowers. They bring softness and dimension that flat embellishments simply can’t achieve.
Layering paper elements with fabric flowers creates a beautiful contrast of textures.
Finishing Details
To finish the card, I added:
- soft splatters
- delicate thread
- small embellishments for subtle shine
- a simple sentiment: “For You”
The sentiment keeps the card versatile and perfect for many occasions.
