Beautiful Moments – Decorative Gift Boxes with Simon Says Stamp

The latest release by Simon Says Stamp – Beautiful Moments is here, and I created something a little different – two small handmade gift boxes featuring a gorgeous stamp set from the release.

These boxes are perfect for small gifts, sweet treats, jewellery, or thoughtful handmade surprises. I wanted them to feel elegant, textured, and full of layered details.

Sentiments as the Focal Point

For this project, I chose to make the stamped sentiments from the SSS FRIENDSHIP stamp set the true stars of the design. The sentiments from this set are so beautifully designed that they work perfectly as focal elements. Instead of surrounding them with busy imagery, I built the small composition out of leaves next to them – allowing the words to shine while adding just enough texture and dimension.

Layered Leaves with the Poinsettia Die

To decorate the boxes, I used leaves from the Simon Says Stamp Poinsettia cutting die. Even though the die is designed with holiday florals in mind, the leaves are incredibly versatile and work beautifully all year round.

Step-by-Step Video Tutorial

I also created a short step-by-step video tutorial showing you how I made one of the boxes from start to finish.

Adding Texture to the Background

Texture always makes a project feel more special and complete. For the background papers, I reached into my Simon Says Stamp stash and used:

  • A dotted stencil to create subtle pattern and depth
  • A text stamp to add light, layered interest

These soft mixed-media touches give the boxes a delicate, artistic feel without overpowering the focal sentiment.

Colour & Composition

I kept the colour palette cohesive and soft to highlight the stamped wording. The combination of:

  • dimensional die-cut leaves
  • textured stencilled backgrounds
  • layered stamped details

creates a rich but balanced composition on a small surface.

Even though these are small boxes, the layered details make them feel like mini works of art.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope this project inspires you to use sentiments as focal points and to look at your dies in new, versatile ways.
