Rustic Style Mother’s Day Card with Papertrey Ink
There’s something so timeless and comforting about a rustic design, and today’s card captures that warm, handmade feel perfectly. I’m excited to share this Mother’s Day project featuring a collection of beautiful Papertrey Ink dies, along with a full video tutorial to guide you through the process.

For this card, I wanted to create a layered, nature-inspired composition with lots of texture and dimension. I reached for several Papertrey Ink cutting die sets to build the focal point—wood slice elements, delicate florals, and leafy accents from Wild Wood die. The combination of these dies makes it easy to achieve a cohesive rustic look while still allowing for plenty of creative flexibility.

The background panel was kept light and airy with subtle ink blending and splatter details. I used a Postage Stamp Frame. The focal point features layered wood slices, which ground the design and give it that cosy, natural vibe.

To bring everything to life, I added clusters of die-cut greenery and small blossoms in soft, muted tones. These elements were tucked in and around the wood pieces to create movement and balance. The florals add a gentle pop of color while still keeping the overall look calm and elegant.
The sentiment, Happy Mother’s Day, was die cut and layered for dimension, then placed right over the focal arrangement. This helps tie all the elements together while keeping the message front and centre.
One of my favourite parts of this card is the dimension—using foam adhesive between layers really helps each element stand out. The mix of textures, from smooth cardstock to the detailed die cuts, creates a rich and visually interesting finish.

If you’d like to see exactly how this card came together, be sure to check out the video tutorial below. I walk through the entire process, including tips for layering, color choices, and arranging your die cuts for a natural look.
This design would work beautifully for so many occasions beyond Mother’s Day—just swap out the sentiment and you have a versatile rustic card perfect for birthdays, thank you notes, or just because.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope this project inspires you to pull out your dies and create something beautifully layered and full of texture!
